    AMRIT VATIKAS AND HERBAL GARDEN WITH AMRIT KALASH

    The National Service Scheme unit (NSS/FU/PNT/KUHS/2) of Pushpagiri College of Nursing conducted amrit vatika plantations with around 350 indegenous fruit trees and herbal plants used in digenous medicine namely tulsi, karpoora, neelabringa, brahmi, henna, muyacheviyan(Emilia sonchifolia), neem, aloe vera, turmeric, jathikka, ashwagandha, lemon grass, ajwain, curry leaves  chameleon, panikkoorkka etc. the students learnt about the maintenance at the gilgal ashwasa bhavan, Eraviperroor where different types of herbs were procured. It also was actively participated by all the volunteers. Amrit kalash was also collected and kept in the premises of the garden as students brought mitti from their homes and collected for the amrit kalash yatra. The whole week of NSS Coincided with this activity. The program helped the volunteers to develop a sense of herbal and indigenous plants used as traditional and herbal medicine and also set to nurture it to its fullest. Besides the volunteers got a chance to nurture mother nature and enjoy its bountiful harvest.
