NATIONAL READING DAY
The Reading Day Celebration Programme was conducted by the college library on June 19, 2024, at the college auditorium. The programme started at 2 p.m. with a prayer song, followed by a welcome speech by Mrs. Renjini Devi, Vice Principal (academics). The programme was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. John Michael, Chaplain, PMCH with inaugural address. The book review competition (in English /Malayalam) was then conducted as a group presentation with 3 participants for each group. There were six groups for book review in English and three in Malayalam. The selection of books completely was as per the participants’ interests. English reviews were evaluated by Dr. Harsha Viswanath, Assistant Professor, MSM College, Kayamkulam, and Dr. Manju George Elenjickal, Professor and Head, CDC, PMCH. Malayalam review evaluators were Mr.Unnikrishnan Poozhikkad, Assistant Professor, MSM College Kayamkulam, and Fr. Abraham Pariyarathil, Chief Librarian, Pushpagiri Medical College, Thiruvalla. 10mts. were allotted to each group for presenting the review. Mrs. Anju Ann Mani presented one english book as faculty representative. At the end, the concerned subject evaluators announced the result and distributed prizes to the winners. Evaluators gave an analysis of the competition. Certificates and cash of Rs. 1000 were given to those who got the first prize for each subject, and for the second and third, certificates and books. Professor Mrs. Vinnetha Jacob, Principal, PCON, gifted mementos as a token of gratitude to the evaluators. Unnikrishnan sir sang a poem, which was followed by a vote of thanks delivered by Mrs. Jeena N. Nair, Librarian, PCON. The programme ended around 4.30 p.m. with a national anthem.
