    WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY

    The World Health Organisation recognises World Mental Health Day on 10 October every year.The theme of 2022’s World Mental Health Day, set by the World Federation for Mental Health, is ‘Make mental health and wellbeing for all a global priority’. Mental health nursing  department have organised various awareness activites and also collaborated with Pushpagiri Medical College in the observance of World Mental Health Day .The participants included 3rd year B.Sc. Nursing, 1st and 2nd year M.Sc. nursing students. The programme started at 7.30 am  with general assembly addressing world mental health day. Mrs Rinu Sakkariya welcomed everyone to the assembly. The assembly included Prayer, Bible reading and News reading as always. Mental Health day theme presentation was done by  Mrs. Vinu Elizabeth John 1st year M.Sc.(N) student presented the theme. Mental Health Day pledge was conducted by Ms. Amrita 3rd year B.Sc. Nursing. A tip for mental health was distributed to everyone in the assembly in the form of pick a roll. The assembly concluded with vote of thanks by Mrs. Asha Jacob 2nd year M.Sc. Nursing. The Mental Health Day programme continued in the form of Mental Health Awareness Rally. Students and faculties from Pushpagiri Medical College joined hands to participate in the Mental Health Awareness Rally. Dr. Joice Geo addressed the participants of the rally. The members  of mental health team was greeted by the CEO and various Directors of Pushpagiri Group of Institutions. Pledge was conducted by Dr. Roy Kallivayalil. CEO of Pushpagiri Group of Institutions Fr. Jose Kallumalickal flagged of the rally. Rally started at 8pm from Pushpagiri Campus and reached Thiruvalla Private Busstand. Participants of the rally included faculties and students of Both Pushpagiri Nursing College and Medical College. At the bus stand students of nursing college performed a presentation, street play and a flash mob to spread mental health awareness to the general population. The rally returned from the bus stand and reached the main entrance. At the Pushpagiri main gate students again performed a presentation, street play and a flash mob to spread mental health awareness to the peoples visiting OPD. The awareness programme cocluded by 10.00 am. The students and faculties then joined the programme conducted by the Medical college. The programme was  organised by Pushpagiri Medical College, World Federation for Mental Health(Asia Pacfic) and Indian Psychiatric Association Kerala branch. The programme was  inaugurated by Minister Roshy Augustin. and presided by Dr Alfred Samuel, President, Indian Psychiatric Association, Kerala Branch.The programme was co-ordinated by Dr. Roy Kallivayalil, Vice President (WFMH). The programme was followed by panel discussion on “Mental Health is everyone’s responsibility”. Sr. Deepa was one among the panel members. Ms. Divya of first year B.Sc. and Mrs. Vinu of first year M.Sc. raised their quieres during panel discussion. The panel discussion was followed by an online session by WFMH Secretary General Dr. Gabriel Ivbijaro, London, addressing global scenario related to Mental Health. After which the morning session concluded followed by lunch. The post lunch session consisted of Music and Mental Health at Psychiatric ward jointly done by  students of Psychiatric Department and Psychiatric Nursing Department. The 3-5pm session was a Mental Health Exhibition and programme concluded by 5pm
