
An Old Age Home Visit was organized by the Adult Health Nursing Department, College Union and Student Nurses’ Association (SNA) of Pushpagiri College of Nursing. The programme aimed to provide nursing students with an opportunity to interact with elderly residents and understand their physical, psychological, social and emotional needs.

The programme was attended by Fourth Semester B.Sc. Nursing students of Pushpagiri College of Nursing.
The visit was planned with the following objectives:
To understand the needs and concerns of elderly people.
To provide companionship and emotional support to the residents.
To develop empathy, compassion and respect towards older adults.
To help students understand the importance of holistic care in old age.
To provide students with practical exposure to elderly care in a community setting.
The students interacted with the residents and spent meaningful time with them. They engaged in conversations, listened to their experiences and provided companionship and emotional support. The students also participated in activities intended to create pleasant
and supportive environment for the elderly residents.
The visit provided students with valuable exposure to the physical, psychological and social aspects of ageing. It helped them recognize the importance of dignity, respect, communication, emotional support and individualized care while caring for older adults.
Conclusion The Old Age Home Visit to Bethany Jeevan Jyothi Old Age Home, Thiruvalla, was a meaningful and enriching experience for the students. The programme reinforced the importance of providing care with love, respect, dignity and compassion and contributed to
the holistic development of the nursing students.
