A Share & Care webinar series by Pushpagiri Nursing Alumni
ALUMNARS 2k24, is an initiative of the Nursing Alumni of Pushpagiri under the able leadership of Prof. Mrs. Vineetha Jacob, Principal, Pushpagiri College of Nursing. It is a bi-monthly care & share webinar series organized by the Pushpagiri Nursing Alumni as a part of the celebrations related to completion of 60 years of training nurses at Pushpagiri. The ALUMNARS aims to-
1. Gather all alumni who passed out of Pushpagiri through various nursing courses- MPH, ANM, GNM, BSc (N) and MSc(N) over the past 60years for a scientific venture.
2. Provide an opportunity for alumni to share their experience & expertise in various fields with each other and to the younger generation.
3. Maintain a strong bond between the alumni and their alma mater. Immediately following the inauguration of the 60th year celebrations on Jan 9th2024, thescientific committee members namely – Sr. Mary Jyothi, Mrs. Alphonsa Lizzy Abraham, Mrs. Ligy Thomas and Sr. Judy SIC in consultation with the Principal, got together on various occasions and through whatsapp to decide on the name for the series, speakers and proposed topics. A registration form was prepared & circulated through the alumni whatsapp groups (giving preference to the PSON alumni) to get to know the interested speakers.
Mrs. Jisha Saru Thomas, MSc(N), District coordinator of ‘Child & Adolescent Health Activites under NHM, Pathanamthitta District [2005 batch BSc(N) alumni of PCON] gladly consented to be the first speaker. Ms. Tiji Mathew [2017 batch BSc(N) alumni of PCON] drafted the brochure for the event. Mrs. Alphonsa Lizzy Abraham, Faculty PCON & Scientific committee member of ALUMNARS contacted the alumni to take up various roles for the event. Mrs Ligy Thomas, Faculty PCON & Scientific committee member of ALUMNARS, prepared the schedule and looked after all arrangements. Mr. Renji George John, Faculty, PCON, contributed by preparing a promo video. Mr. Marvin & Mr. Sony, System administrators provided all the needed technical support. The prepared meet link with brochure was circulated to alumni & faculty through whatsapp groups. Arrangements were done to display the meet proceedings for large audience too, ie. for faculty in the conference room and for the fourth Semester students in the first year classroom, through the interactive panels.
The Inauguration of ALUMNARS and the first webinar of the series was organized on 23rd January, 2024 at 3pm via Google Meet. Mrs. Rakhi R. Nath, President, Alumni Association, & Facultyat PCON [2012 batch MSc(N) alumni of PCON] welcomed the gathering. Rev. Fr. Aby Vadakkumthala, Director – Institutions, Pushpagiri, inaugurated the ALUMNARS by a motivating inaugural address. Mrs. Jisha Saru Thomas spoke on the topic, “Child & Adolescent Health Activites under NHM at Pathanamthitta District”. Mrs. Vimala Treasa Thomas, Mental Health Counsellor, Bahrain [27th batch of GNM alumni] proposed the vote of thanks. The whole event was compered by Ms. Sonu Ann Alex, RN, University Hospitals of Leicester, NHS trust [2016 batch BSc(N) alumni of PCON]. Around 75 students, 30 staff and 24 alumni from different parts of the world joined in the event. The event concluded with a jovial interaction between the gathered alumni, appreciating the Principal, Speaker, scientific committee and the alumni who contributed. The meeting came to an end by 4.20pm.
