WORLD BLOOD DONOR DAY
On 14th June 2023,a blood donation camp was conducted at St.Thomas Marthoma Church , Mulakuzha coordinated by department of transfusion medicine and immunohematology of Pushpagiri Medical College and Pushpagiri College of nursing. “Give blood, give plasma,share life,share often” was the theme of 2023. Around six members from the blood bank with all the required equipments for testing Hb , blood group and preserving collected blood and monitoring the patients while collecting the blood joined the camp. 23 students and 2 teachers Sr. Mayukha SIC and Mrs. Jeena Kunjachen joined the camp to conduct an awareness program. The camp members were welcomed by Fr. K .A. Abraham and the church members. By 9:30am the camp officially began with a prayer song followed by welcome speech by Fr. K.A. Abraham .thereafter “be busy to save life”, a skit was performed by forth year BSc Nursing students. The public meeting winded up with the vote of thanks by a youth member of St.Thomas Marthoma church. Around 29 blood donors came to the camp with the willingness to donate blood but only 18 were accepted. 5 nursing students donated blood. All the blood donors were monitored for 30 min after blood donation.
