WORLD ROSE DAY AND HAIR DONATION CAMPAIGN on September 22, 2022
The Pushapagiri College of Nursing ,NSS Unit, Dept. of Community Health Nursing and Nursing Education in collaboration with the Thiruvalla Social Service Society (Bodhana) conducted a programme on world rose day for the welfare of poor cancer patients worldwide. This day aims to encourage and support those people who are fighting their battle against cancer. It was first observed in the year 1996, and is being observed since then. Around 20 students and 3 staff members from pushpagiri college of nursing participated in the hair donation campaign- Ashakiran project. About 9 B.sc nursing students and 2 Bodhana staff dependants donated their hair after giving a wilful consent of hair donation to the poor patients battling their lives with cancer in the verge of ongoing chemotherapy. The programme was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Samuel Vilayil, Director of Bodhana, and also with the presence of Miss Athira, NSS Programme Officer of MACFAST,Thukallaserry, who gave the presidential address and emphasised the importance of hair donation amongst cancer patients and its importance, she also commended the efforts and hearts of the students who donated their part of the body, their priceless hair. Ms Schlienger Jeannette from Switzerland participated in the hair donation drive who gave a Felicitatory Address to the gathering. Sr Mayukha SIC, Associate Professor, Pushpagiri College of Nursing also delivered a Felicitatory note to the gathering on the hair donation and programme also witnessed the donors themselves rendering their cut hair to the director of Bodhana and getting a memento and certificate of appreciation in return.
